Each year, two 100-mile endurance races occur in the Middle Fork American River Watershed, the Western States Endurance Run and the Tevis Cup Trail Ride. Information about these two events can be found here:
These two races utilize trails that cross the Middle Fork American River downstream of Oxbow Powerhouse. Therefore, during these two races, PCWA modifies flow releases from Oxbow Powerhouse to help facilitate crossing, if possible. The dates of these races change from year to year, so PCWA coordinates with the race coordinators annually to identify when flows need to be modified and subsequently posts the dates here along with the dates of other "Special Flow Releases".
